Indonesian Dignitary Meets with SLBSC President and Board Members

Indonesian House Representative Robby Sirait met with SLBSC President Joe Passanise, Board Member Thomas Bottini and Mr. Stephen Rutherford, World Affairs Council Director, at Armstrong Teasdale Law Offices in St. Louis to discuss education opportunities and the role of education in a democracy.

President

Mr. Passanise is President of St. Louis-Bogor Sister Cities an organization affiliated with the World Trade Center Saint Louis.

Mr. Passanise has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from St. Louis University, and a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from Washington University-St. Louis. Also, he is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in political science at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. In conjunction with his political academic achievements, Mr. Passanise was an Adjunct Professor teaching American Government at the St. Charles Community College between 2004 and 2007. In addition, he has served as moderator for public forums hosted by the United Nations Association and the St. Charles Community College.

Mr. Passanise has developed and refined his communication and leadership skills by his active participation in Toastmasters International during the past twelve years. He has served in various leadership positions including Club President, Area Governor and Division Governor. In recognition for his leadership in Toastmasters, Mr. Passanise received the Outstanding Accomplishments and Leadership Excellence Award for 2001-2002. He is the holder of “Distinguish Toastmaster,” which is the highest recognition award bestowed to a member of Toastmasters International.

In a previous career, Mr. Passanise served as a Professional Engineer and Manager in the Department of Highways and Traffic, an agency of the St. Louis County Government. He continues to maintain his Professional Engineer License in the State of Missouri.

Mr. Passanise is married to Cheryl Passanise and they reside in the City of Creve Coeur within St. Louis County, Missouri. He has three adult children: Joseph, a defense lawyer practicing in Springfield, MO; Angela, an orthopedic surgeon, completing her residency at the Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan; Elizabeth, an advertising account manager for Moosylvania.
